Welcome to Sparking Resilience, Empowerment, Activism, and Development (SparkREAD). We are a registered grassroots, youth- and women-led nonprofit organization operating nationally in Zimbabwe, particularly in marginalized areas. My name is Angeline Makore, and I founded this organization in 2016, motivated by personal experiences with harmful religious and cultural practices, as well as the numerous challenges faced by youth in my community. Our mandate is to liberate young people and communities from cycles of poverty by providing enhanced education, employment opportunities through access to vocational trainings, youth friendly health services, and equitable communities free from social ills. We employ a variety of methods for message delivery, including educational entertainment, research, sports for development, advocacy campaigns, and personalized training to engage our target audiences sustainably and meaningfully. Girls and women are central to our programming, and our values emphasize addressing their challenges while ensuring that boys are not overlooked. Will you join us on this exciting journey to dismantle patriarchy, shatter glass ceilings, and empower young people to create a significant community impact? “We aim to accompany youth step by step towards the light at the end of the tunnel— towards social and economic freedom.
Over 30K people directly reached since inception with 90% being girls and young women.
We actively welcome partnerships that assist us in the smooth running of the work we do in
